1324305 Vinyl esters containing hindered phenol groups CIBA-GEIGY AG 31 Aug 1971 [31 Aug 1970] 40588/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, A is -C n H 2n - group wherein n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 6 and which may be straight or branched or a -C m H 2m O- group wherein m is an integer from 1 to 6 and the (lower) alkyl groups contain from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. They may be prepared by reacting a compound of the formula (a) with acetylene or (b) with vinyl acetate or isoprepenyl acetate. The compounds of the invention may be used to prepare polymers or copolymers which may be used as stabilizers against oxidative or thermal degradation.
