1413446 Clutch/brake combinations; positive clutches VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ISKUSSTVENNOGO VOLOKNA and KIEVSKIE EXPERIMENTALNYE MASTERSKIE 6 Feb 1974 5472/74 Headings F2C and F2L [Also in Division D1] A clutch-brake drive for a textile spindle comprises a driven sheave 151 which is reciprocable along the spindle arbor 19 by lever 154. In the upper position of the sheave, the friction clutch part 158 is urged against the clutch part 159 so as to transmit rotary drive thereto. In the lower position of the sheave, the spring 162 urges the clutch parts 159, 158 against the tapering brake surface 161. A dog clutch, Figs. 15, 16 (not shown), comprises meshing gears (173, 174) mounted on shafts (172, 177) respectively. The sliding coupling is movable along drive shaft (177) to engage with gear (174) to transmit drive thereto, and thus to gear (173) and shaft (172). A dog clutch, Fig. 21, used to transmit drive from shaft 177 to roller 171 comprises a sliding dog 221, 222 which couples driving gears 219, 220 to the shaft 218 via a radial driving lug (not shown). The sliding dog 221, 222 moves under the influence of electromagnet 206, 223.
