1412737 Fork lift trucks HI-SPACE SYSTEMS Ltd 29 Dec 1972 [29 Sept 1971] 46275/71 Heading B8H An industrial lift truck which is used to load and unload racks at either side thereof comprises a main mast (not shown) at its forward end on which a guide assembly 1 is mounted for vertical movement, a carriage 3 being mounted on the assembly 1 to traverse between opposite ends thereof, the carriage 3 having members 11 extending therefrom which carry a platform 12 on which is mounted a turntable 13 carrying spaced rails 14 which form a chassis for a secondary mast 15 which is movable along the rails 14 by means of a carriage 16 whose rollers 17 engage the rails 14. At the outer ends of the rails 14 rollers 30 are mounted for rotation about a common axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the rails 14. A vertical frame 21 which carries load engaging forks 29 is connected to the mast 15 by a pair of sets of crossed links 25, 26 which are expanded and contracted by a ram 28 to move the frame 21 relative to the mast 15. When a rack loading or unloading operation is taking place the guide assembly 1 is adjusted to the required height on the main mast, the turntable 13 is rotated to position the tracks 14 relative to the rack and the carriage 16 and thus the mast 15 and forks 29 are moved along the tracks 14, the rollers 30 on the lower sides of the tracks 14 engaging in skids (34) in the rack, thus stabilizing the truck, Fig. 5 (not shown). The forks 29 may be moved vertically relative to the rails 14 to permit the forks to be manipulated below an article stored in the rack, such movement of the forks being effected upon relative movement between parts of the secondary mast 15.
