1412590 Biological teatment of liquid effluent GARY AIRCRAFT CORP 19 March 1973 [20 Dec 1971] 48128/73 Divided out of 1412587 Heading C1C A process for biologically treating liquid effluent having organic content comprises passing the effluent through a bed of rigid and porous inorganic foamed silica packing which contains on the surface thereof biologically active aerobic micro-organisms and introducing oxygen to the bed whereby the organic content of the liquid effluent is biologically oxidized. Preferably the foam pore size is 10-300 microns and the foam is coated with an organic polymer such as methyl cellulose, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate or gelatin.
