Abstract

1412551 Vehicle storage system O HOLSCHER 12 June 1973 [12 June 1972] 27953/73 Heading B8H [Also in Division A4] Vehicle storage system comprises a storage rack of vertical posts 12 and horizontal supports 16, 17, a fork lift truck 30 with a hydraulically driven, fork tine lateral spreader 29 and two pallets 40 to fit respectively on each tine 34. Each pallet comprises a plate 41 chamfered along one edge and having a tubular tine receiving wheel stop 42 along the other edge. In operation the pallets are mounted on the tines and are inserted under a vehicle. The spreader 29 is then operated to move the pallets beneath respective wheels and then the vehicle is lifted and positioned within the rack with the pallets resting on the supports 16. In a modification of the rack, Fig. 5 (not shown), support platforms (60) are secured to the racking and in use after positioning the vehicle thereon the pallets are withdrawn for use with another vehicle. The platforms are downwardly inclined towards a step (63) at one end.
