Abstract

1412345 Automatic control P MAYER [trading as MAYER & CIE MASCHINENFABRIK] 6 Feb 1973 [25 March 1972] 5729/73 Heading G3N [Also in Division D1] A pattern diagram is transferred in coded form to a permanent store for controlling a textile machine, by point-to-scanning of the diagram projecting the points in an enlarged manner for observation and insertion in an intermediate store the contents of which, when filled or a line-end reached, is passed into the permanent store. As shown, a pattern diagram 16 for a textile process is mounted on a conveyer 14, 15 driven by a stepping motor 17 and displayed through an optical projection system 28-29 on a squared screen 30 having a central framing field in which a section of the diagram to be assessed is brought by a cross-travel arrangement 20 driven by a stepping motor 25. When a section has been assessed the appropriate colour key, not shown, is depressed, and the value transmitted to an intermediate store, comprising an electronic register, not shown, and a panel 32 illuminated through a light guide 33 by the appropriately coloured lamp 34. The arrangement 20 then steps the projection head and the next section assessed, the panels 32 being shifted accordingly. Each time the register is filled or the end of a line is reached the contents of the register are used to control a tape-punch whereby a permanent record of the pattern diagram is built up of the pattern diagram, on an eight-track perforated tape. Facilities are provided for correcting the register contents and semi-automatically carrying out initial alignment of the pattern diagram and stepping line-by-line. It is stated that the permanent record can also be prepared on magnetic tape or stored in a computer memory.
