Abstract

1412258 Electro-photographic apparatus CANON KK 2 Oct 1972 [2 Oct 1971 5 Oct 1971 (3) 26 Oct 1971 25 Nov 1971 6 Dec 1971 31 Jan 1972] 45417/72 Heading G2H In a method of producing a fixed coloured image on a substrate 1 an electrostatic image on the substrate over which has been applied a coating of a colour reactant B is developed by a toner 3 carrying a colour reactant A. The resulting product is heat fused such that the toner reactants into an integrated mass 3a. Colour forming auxiliary agents are used to assist the chemical reaction. Reactant A may contain a chromogen and/or be selected from diarylphalides, leuco auramines, acryl auramines, α, # unsaturated arylketones, basic monoazo dyestuffs, rhodamine B lactams, polyaryl carbinols, indolinospinebenzo pyrenes, phthalans, spirophthalans. Reactant B is selected from (1) a polymer of phenol and an aldehyde, (2) a polymer of phenol and acetylene, (3) a resin modified maleic acid resin, (4) a hydrolyzed product of a copolymer of styrene and maleic anhydride, (5) a hydrolyzed product of a polymer of carboxy polyethylene, (6) a hydrolyzed product of a copolymer of vinyl methyl ether and maleic anhydride, (7) a hydrolyzed product of a copolymer of ethylene and maleic anhydride, (8) Japanese acid clay, (9) bentonite, (10) diatomaceous earth, (11) a bisphenol compound containing a carboxyl radical, (12) a polymer of a bisphenol compound containing a carboxyl radical and (13) phenolic material. Colour forming auxiliary agents may be fatty acids, fatty acid metal salts, fatty acid esters, fatty acid amides, fatty acid anhydride, (5) a hydrolyzed Reactant B may be in the toner and reactant A in the paper coating.
