Abstract
479,838. Photographic sensitive materials. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. June 11, 1936, No. 16331. Convention date, July 16, 1935. [Class 98 (ii)] Silver halide emulsion layers for the production of coloured images contain a compound of a polymeric carboxylic acid, a mixed polymerizate including a carboxylic acid as a component, or a derivative thereof, with a colour-forming component known per se for example, an amine, a phenol, an aminophenol, a naphthol, an aminonaphthol or a body having a reactive methylene group or with a diazo compound or a leuco dyestuff. As polymeric carboxylic acids, polyglucuronic acid, proteinamino acids, polyvinyl carboxylic acids (e.g. polyacrylic acid alone or as a mixed polymerizate with styrene, vinyl chloride, vinyl ether, or vinyl carbazole) and polymers of maleic, fumaric, and methylene malonic acids may be used. In examples : (1) the condensation product of m-aminophenylmethylpyrazolone and the mixed polymerizate of vinyl chloride and maleic acid anhydride is incorporated in a silver bromide emulsion which is developed with p-aminodimethylaniline ; (2) 1 : 5-aminonaphthol is used in place of m-aminophenylmethylpyrazolone in example 1 ; (3) poly-alphacyansorbic acid methyl ester is condensed with aminonaphthol and the product incorporated in an emulsion; (4) the mixed polymerizate of styrene and acrylic acid methyl ester is condensed with aminophenol and added to an emulsion ; (5) the adduct from colophony and maleic acid anhydride is condensed with aminonaphthol and added to an emulsion ; (6) the emulsion of example 1 is exposed, developed, and the silver image bleached out and converted to an anti-diazotate with alkaline diazo-p-nitraniline and the result acidified to form a yellow dye with the condensate; (7) the emulsion of example 2 is developed and the silver converted to silver halide. This is then treated with alkaline tetrazotized dianisidine to form the antidiazotate and the result acidified forming a violet dye with the condensate ; (8) the condensation product of 5-amino-3-oxythionaphthene-2-carboxylic acid with the mixed polymerizate from vinyl chloride and maleic acid anhydride is incorporated in an emulsion and after exposure and development, the silver is converted to silver chromate. On acidifying, a purple-red dyestuff is formed. Specifications 2562/13, [Class 98 (iil], 387,197, and 436,587 are referred to.
