Abstract

1412209 Straining apparatus BAGGERMAATSCHAPPIJ BOS & KALIS BV 2 April 1973 [5 April 1972] 15764/73 Heading BID Straining apparatus for removing water and fine solids from slurry pumped from a dredger comprises a reservoir 1 arranged to discharge slurry onto strainer 3 past a valve 2 which is vertically adjustable to vary the equilibrium level of unstrained slurry 6 and consequently the delivery velocity 7 across the strainer. The angle of inclination of strainer 3 or a part thereof may also be adjusted. Clogging of the strainer is avoided by suitably adjusting valve 2 and strainer 3, and clogging which does occur is washed clear by increasing velocity 7.
