Abstract

1412030 Metalworking lubricants and coolants NALCO CHEMICAL CO 31 Dec 1973 [27 April 1973] 60228/73 Heading C5F 5-3000 ppm of an oil-soluble polymer formed by the polymerization of at least one mono- or diolefinic compound through an aliphatic unsaturated group and having a molecular weight of at least 100,000 is incorporated in an oil-type metal working coolant to improve the capability of the coolant to adhere to metal surfaces. The preferred polymers are homopoymers or copolymers of ethylene, propylene, isobutylene, butadiene and/or isoprene; other suitable monomers are lised. A suitable coolant consists of 8À33% by weight sulphurized fatty oil, 2À98% chlorinated paraffin, 62À02% sulphurized pale oil, 0À7% of a 3% solution of polyisobutylene, 4À17% of methyl esters of palmitic and oleic acids, 21% mineral seal oil.
