Abstract

1309467 Lubricating oils CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 9 July 1970 [10 July 1969] 33293/70 Heading C5F [Also in Divison C3] Additives for improving the viscosity index of lubricating oils may be prepared by polymerizing an olefin containing at least 3 carbon atoms or an olefin mixture suitable for the production of thermoplastics material by a low pressure method using a Ziegler catalyst in the presence of a paraffin oil or oily olefin polymer which is left in the product when it is worked up. Preferably a small amount of butene-1 is polymerized in the presence of a large amount of polybutene oil.
