Abstract

1411431 Bulk material processing apparatus WATFORD ENG LTD 29 Dec 1972 [4 Jan 1972] 277/72 Heading B1C A bulk material e.g. paper, processing apparatus comprises a container 5, a frusto conical ring 12 and blades 10 mounted to traverse the ring to induce the material thereagainst. The Figures show the ring having perforations 13. Fig 2 shows a blade 10 where the front face 55 is inclined forwardly with respect to a radial direction to force pulp in the container into the perforations. Surface 56 moves progressively away from the ring so that in operation it induces a negative pressure on the perforations thus helping to remove pieces of pulp tending to block them. The blades are mounted on a disc 28 on which further blades 38 are mounted tangentially to housing 33. Disc 28 is vertically adjustable to maintain a predetermined minimum distance between the surface 56 and the ring 12. In a modification the perforations can be interspersed by segments which have attrition bars. These are on the side of the ring directed towards its notional apex. Alternate bars are recessed so that in cooperation with the blades 10 a cutting action is effected. Alternatively the ring 12 may have attrition bars only.
