Abstract

1411195 Door fastenings &c EASTERN CO 14 March 1973 [28 March 1972] 12185/73 Heading E2A A movement restraining device for use with a pair of members, at least one of which is hinged for pivotal movement relative to the other, comprises a first element 32 securable to the hinged member, e.g. a door B', adjacent a distal edge 33' spaced from and parallel to the pivotal axis of the member and a second element 30 securable to another member B for interengagement with the element 32 by pivotal movement of the member B'. The elements each have at least two surface portions which, when the elements are secured to the members B, B' respectively, and are interengaged, are offset from each other tooth radially and circumferentially relative to and at one side of the pivotal axis of the hinged member B' and are in different planes, substantially normal to the plane in which the axis of the hinged member lies, the surface portions of the first element 32 being closely adjacent to, opposed to, and co-operable with the surface portions of the other element 30 to restrain movement due to impact or buckling forces of the hinged member and the other member. The interengaged surface portions are readily separable only when the other member is stationary relative to the hinged member and the hinged member is moved in a pre-determined path relative to the other member. As shown, the anti-racking device is applied to the double doors B, B' of a truck or cargo container and complements the door securing mechanisms F, F'.
