Abstract

1411118 Vinyl acetate HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc 15 Dec 1972 [16 Dec 1971] 58034/72 Heading C2C In a process for the preparation of vinyl acetate by pyrolysis of ethylene glycol diacetate in the vapour phase, the surfaces of the pyrolysis zone in contact with the feedstock and reaction products comprises austenitic stainless steel of a chromium content of at least 8 wt. per cent and a nickel content of at least 6 wt. per cent. The steel may further contain 1-4 wt. per cent molybdenum.
