Abstract

1410537 Containers for fragile articles K TAKAHASKI 16 May 1973 [24 May 1972 28 June 1972 27 Dec 1972 29 Dec 1972] 23325/73 Heading B8P [Also in Division F4] Containers for fragile articles comprise an inner container supported by shock absorbing devices inside an outer container. The inner container may have transverse and longitudinal partitions and may be divided into separate compartments. The shock absorbers may be springs 13 or air or hydraulic damping devices and are preferably arranged in a vertical row at each corner of the inner container. The outer container may be merely a frame 2 or may have sides 3 of aluminium or steel sheet or of wire or a lattice and may be heat insulated at 4. Doors 6 enable the springs to be removed at that end of the container and a scissor-like tool enables the springs adjacent main doors 5 to be removed. The partitions and shelving are located by angle iron or channel members on the inside walls of the inner container and may be of a lattice construction to facilitate air circulation. By means of a fan 27, ducts 29 and openings 28 the inner container can be temperature and humidity controlled and some air, or carbon dioxide, can also pass between the inner and outer containers. In another embodiment, Fig. 10 (not shown), two inner containers can be suspended in an outer container and in a further embodiment, Fig. 11 (not shown) additional shock absorbers can be mounted in recesses intermediate the ends of an inner container. The containers may hold fruit, glassware or precision machines.
