Abstract

1410194 Sphere launchers/receivers B & R REDWOOD Ltd 1 Aug 1973 [12 Aug 1972] 37711/72 Heading F2N A launcher/receiver for pipe-line spheres comprises a flow chamber 1 having parts 2, 5 for connection in a pipe-line 3, 4, a sphere storage chamber 6 having (or, as shown, comprising) a cylindrical portion joining the flow chamber 1 at an acute angle (e.g. 45 degrees) to the axis of at least one of the ports 2, 5, an access cover 7 to chamber 6, and parallel rails 8 for guiding a sphere 13 between the two chambers. A rod 10 may be extended to its broken line position 11 to retain a sphere in storage chamber 6. In modifications, the outer end of chamber 6 is curved (Fig. 2, not shown), or a straight cylindrical branch extends from chamber 6 and lies parallel with chamber 1, (Fig. 3, not shown).
