Abstract

1409701 Weapon control system WILLIAM WAHL CORP 25 Jan 1974 03500/74 Heading F3C A weapon control system for changing the state of one or more of a group of multistate weapon actuating devices comprises at least one remote station, the or each station including actuator means 12 for effecting a change of state of one of the devices, state sensor means 14 for sensing the states of the devices and transmitting status words each including a representation of the sensed state of the corresponding device. A command station including sensor command means 16 is provided for generating test words for transmission to the state sensor means 14 and means to actuate the sensor means 14 and cause transmission of the status words. A command status memory 18 receives and stores the status words transmitted from the state sensor means 14. Means 20 for selecting a word having a predetermined state from the command status memory is provided and reads out the selected word as an actuator word. The actuator word, in use, is transmitted to the state charge actuator means 12 to effect a change of state of one or more of the multistate devices. When a plurality of remote stations are provided, each is provided with a transceiver which includes means for identifying a unique address contained in an actuator or test word that uniquely identifies the remote station and uniquely identifies and selects one of the devices at the station. The link between the command station and the remote stations may be a single line, time being shared between outgoing and incoming signals with respect to the command station. Firing prerequisites are also fed to the remote stations. The energy for changing the state of the devices is obtained from the energy contained in the words. The arrangement of the weapon control system is such that the remote stations are interrogated in turn as to the state of the weapons at the respective station in cycles, the cycle being interrupted if the operator wishes to actuate a weapon. Should a weapon not "operate" correctly a "hung" signal is produced at the command station.
