Abstract

1409607 Feeding sheets ROTAPRINT GmbH 19 Oct 1972 48289/72 Heading B8R Sheets are separated from a pile 9 by a rotating suction roller 6 having a suction passage 11, and are transferred by the roller to the impression cylinder 12 of a printing or duplicating machine. Except when it is desired to separate a sheet, the bottom of the pile is held away from the roller by a plurality of fingers 5 pivoted on a shaft 15 and controlled by a cam 1 rotating with the cylinder 12, and by a spring 17. Normally, the fingers 5 are swung to allow the end sheet to contact the roller 6 once every revolution of the cylinder 12, but on actuation of a switch, an electromagnet 8 moves a lever 7 into the path of a lever 2 to latch the fingers in position to prevent separation.
