1409512 Section insulator VSESOJUZNY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ZHELEZNODOROZHNOGO TRANSPORTA 29 Aug 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 40649/73 Heading H2C A section insulator for the contact wire of electrified railways comprises two pairs of main runners 1 formed of the contact wire with two insulation members 2 between them. Inner and outer auxiliary runners 3 and 4, respectively, formed of contact wire, each terminate in one horn of an arc suppression air gap, the other horn of each air gap 5 and 7 being formed of a further length of contact wire. Means are provided for adjusting the transition portions of the auxiliary runners in both height and angle by vertical adjusting rods 9 and inclined adjusting rods 10. The ends of the auxiliary runners are connected to the main runner from above by clips 11.
