Abstract

140,903. Morris, E. April 1, 1919. Lighting systems for motor vehicles have the battery arranged in two parts G, G<1> normally in series to supply the head-lamps H and a rear and tell-tale lamp J, C, these two being in series. When the vehicle is stationary, the switch D may be turned to short-circuit the tell-tale lamp C and supply the rear lamp at its full voltage and the head-lamps at full voltage. The switch has also an ' off ' position, and one for connecting the battery to the dynamo with no lamps in circuit. The tell-tale lamp C is arranged under the dials A<1> of the usual indicating-instruments, a screen of opaque or translucent material A<2> preventing the rays from impinging directly on the eyes of the driver. A reflector C<1> is placed behind the lamp.
