Abstract
1408780 Sulphonated polybutadiene CHEMISCHE WERKE HULS AG 8 Dec 1972 [11 Dec 1971] 56641/72 Heading C3P [Also in Division C5] The sodium salt of a sulphonated polybutadiene is prepared by reacting a polybutadiene of molecular weight 1500 and containing 75% of 1,4-cis- and 24% 1,4-trans-double bonds and fewer than 1% of vinyl double bonds with an SO 3 -dioxane complex in an organic solvent at 25 to 30 C. The so formed acid is filtered, washed, neutralized with aqueous sodium hydroxide and treated with 30% aqueous hydrogen peroxide at 70 C. The degree of substitution of the polybutadiene sodium sulphonate is 0À42 per monomer unit (Example 1). The compound is a builder for use in detergent compositions (see Division C5).
