Abstract

1407812 Optically testing transparent members BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 7 March 1973 [9 March 1972] 11075/72 Heading G2J The optical properties of a transparent member 4, e.g. a windscreen, are tested by mounting the windscreen between a screen 1 and a projector 2 which normally directs two identical image beams to form a superimposed image on the screen. The two beams are spaced apart by a distance equal to the spacing of the human eyes, and each projects an image of a device, e.g. a pattern of squares and circles, see Fig. 3 (not shown). The beams may be of different colours, e.g. red and green, and the screen 1 may be translucent for viewing or photographing from the rear. Imperfections in the windscreen, which is movably mounted, cause the image patterns to be relatively displaced on the screen 1.
