1407805 Additives for preserved blood AMERICAN HOSPITAL SUPPLY CORP 31 Oct 1972 [1 Nov 1971 (2)] 50137/72 Heading A5B The 2, 3-diphosphoglycerate content of the red cells of blood under storage conditions is maintained or increased by addition of at least 1.5 millimoles/litre of dihydroxyacetone. It may be added as a sterile solution alone or together with conventional preservatives and anticoagulant agents e.g. inosine, adenine, pyruric acid and/or pyrurates, citric acid and/or citrates and a sugar e.g. dextrose fructose, mannose or galactose.
