Abstract

1407746 Printers CASIO COMPUTER CO Ltd 6 March 1973 [9 March 1972] 10780/73 Heading G4H In an ink-jet printer, a recording head can be moved in a horizontal direction and can deflect ink drops in horizontal and vertical directions under control of horizontal and vertical signals generated in synchronism with clock pulses also used for driving the head in plural steps in recording one character, the horizontal signals being corrected according to movement of the head. The correction prevents distortion of the printed characters due to the movement of the head during printing. The clock pulses drive the head via a ternary counter and also drive a counter used to read out, from a memory, X and Y co-ordinates of an initial position followed by increments/decrements to reach subsequent X, Y positions to trace out the character which is built up by drops of ink at selected positions of a notional matrix. All these X and Y signals are fed to respective up/down counters controlling deflection of the ink-drops via respective D/A converters. The counter addressing the memory provides the correction pulses to the X counter.
