Abstract

1407507 Roll dispensers ASSOCIATED SPRAYERS Ltd 3 April 1974 [6 Jan 1973] 907/73 Heading B8M [Also in Division B5] In a combined dispenser and heat sealing assembly for thermoplastic film, Figs. 1-3, superimposed film portions 22 on a support 10 are sealed by placing a layer 19 of heat resistant material over the uppermost portion and passing heating means over an exposed outer face of the layer 19, (see Division B5). The dispenser comprises a container 1 having a partial top wall 5 having a slot 9 in which is mounted a carrier 8 for an elongate support strip 10 of silicone rubber. A skeletal lid 12 is provided with a holder 14 for a flexible layer of heat resistant material, e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene or glass fibre impregnated with P.T.F.E. A knife blade 20 is carried by a slider 21 guided by the holder 14 and, in its operative position, projects into a slot 11 in the wall 5. The film 22 is in the form of a flattened continuous sleeve 23, Fig. 2, wound on a roller 24 housed in a square section dispenser 25 have a dispensing slot therein. In use, the required bag-length of film is withdrawn from the dispenser and severed by traversing the blade 20 along the slot 11. With the lid 12 in its operative closed position, superimposed end portions of the bag, both before and after filling, are clamped between the layer 19 and the strip 10 and a domestic hot-iron is passed over the layer 19 to effect sealing.
