1405981 Toy building kits D J SIM 6 Aug 1973 [23 Feb 1973] 8866/73 Heading A6S A toy building kit comprises a base, end walls each of which has hooks projecting from the bottom edge of the wall in the plane of the wall and insertable in corresponding slots in the base, a side member engageable at its ends against the end walls and having a tab enengagealble in a slot in the base so that the engagement of the ends of the side member with the end walls will lock each end wall against displacement in a direction parallel to its own plane and thereby hold the hooks of the end walls in engagement with the base, and a holding member formed at both ends to engage with the edges of the end walls and thereby hold the end walls against outward movement. In one form, a toy bungalow has a base 10, Fig 2, consisting of the inverted box in which the kit is packed, with slots 15, 16 into which the forwardly-directed hooks 17, 18 of end walls 19, 20 are fitted. A first side wall 22 is slidden down grooves 23, 24 in the end walls so that a tongue (not shown) on its bottom edge enters a slot 25 in the base, thus preventing the end walls 19, 20 sliding rearwardly in their own planes to disengage the hooks 17, 18 from the base slots 15, 16. A second side wall 26 is slidden down end wall grooves 27, 28 to engage a tongue 29 at its bottom edge in a base slot 30, an internal partition 31 is slidden down end wall grooves 32, 33 and internal partitions 34 ... 36 slidden into place in the same way. A holding member in the form of a ridge beam 38 with hooks 39, 40 at its ends is slidden into end wall notches 41 to hold the end walls 19, 20 against outwards movement, the hooks being sprung into end wall holes 42. Roof panels 11, 12 with blocks 43 at their corners are then rested upon the top edges of the side walls 22, 26. In another form, a two-storey doll's house is erected on a base 50, Fig 3, having slots 53, 56 receiving rearwardly-directed hooks 52, 55 depending from end walls 51, 54. A rear wall 58 is slidden down end wall grooves 59, 60 to engage a tongue 61 at its bottom edge in a slot (not shown) in the base 50. Thus the end walls 51, 54 are locked against forward sliding motion in their own planes to release the end wall hooks 52, 55 from the base slots 53, 56. Hooks 62, 63 on the rear wall engage slots 64, 65 in the end walls. A holding member in the form of an upper rail 67 has holes 69, 70 at its ends which engage over pegs 71, 72 on the end walls to prevent the latter from moving outwards. A lower rail 68 has holes 73, 74 engaged over lower end wall pegs 75, 76. Internal walls 81, 82, are slidden vertically into place, a floor 90 pushed horizontally into position along grooves 92, and a staircase 96 rested in its floor hole. An upper arch 93 is inserted vertically. The two rails 67, 68 are grooved along their lengths to enable a front wall 66 to be slidden horizontally into place. Finally, roof panels 97, 98 are placed on top. In a final embodiment, a toy villa with a box base 100, Fig 4, has forwardly-directed hooks 103 on its end walls engaged in base slots 104. Rear, and front walls 105, 107 are inserted vertically so that tongues 111 on their lower edges engage base slots 112 to lock the end walls 101, 102 against movement in their own planes, preventing the hooks 103, &c. from disengaging. A floor panel 123 is slidden horizontally into grooves 124. A centre wall 106 is inserted vertically, as are internal arches 119, 120 and a partition 129. All three walls 105. 106, 107 have hooks 109 engaging notches 110 in the end walls, and all three walls act as holding members. First floor arches 132, 133 are slidden vertical into grooves 134, and a staircase 136 fitted by notches 137 to the floor partition 123. The front of the villa, which is only one storey high, is covered by a roof panel 115, and the rear part, which is two storeys high, is covered by a further roof panel 113.
