Abstract
1405666 Turbine control systems BERGMANN-BORSIG GORLITZER MASCHINENBAU VEB 5 Oct 1972 46034/72 Heading FIT The invention relates to a control system for a steam or gas turbine which comprises one or more main control valves 6 actuated by a relatively slowly operating electric drive 5 and one or more secondary control valves 1, 2 having a relatively fast operating electric drive 3, 4, the secondary valve or valves serving to control the flow of working fluid to the turbine within specific limits about a predetermined flow-rate. In the arrangement shown the secondary valve 1 would normally be closed and the secondary valve 2 fully open, the main valve 6 being set at the position for necessary flow-rate to the turbine. In the event of a signal from a controller 7 calling for increase in the flowrate of steam, the secondary valve 1 is rapidly opened by its drive 3, the main valve 5 is then opened further but relatively slowly; when the main valve has reached its required setting, the secondary valve 1 is returned to its closed position. Similarly in the event of a call for reduced flowrate, the secondary valve 2 is rapidly closed, the main valve is slowly closed to the desired setting, and the secondary valve 2 then returned to its open position. A coupling 13 is provided between each valve 1, 2, 6 and its drive 3, 4, 5 such that in the event of turbine failure or loss of electric supply to the drive, each valve is returned to its closed position by spring means.
