Abstract

1405626 Stabilizers ASSOCIATED LEAD MFRS Ltd 24 July 1973 [28 June 1972 19 June 1973] 30282/72 and 29024/73 Heading C3P A stabilizer for vinyl resins consists of granules comprising a basic lead salt of an inorganic acid and a binder which has a melting point below 25‹ C. and is a fatty acid having 10 or more carbon atoms or a mixture of fatty acids of which not more than 40% have less than 8 carbon atoms, or a phenol. The granules may also contain a plasticizer, a chlorinated hydrocarbon or a liquid lubricant. In examples the binder liquids used are a mixture of octoic, decoic and lauric acids with coconut fatty acids, isostearic acid, oleic acid, palm kernel fatty acid, coconut fatty acid, ground nut fatty acid, mixtures of coconut fatty acid with palm kernel fatty acid and oleic acid or with isostearic acid, mix cresols, an alkylated hydroxy toluene and paranonylphenol, and the lead compound is tribasic or tetrabasic lead sulphate or dibasic lead phosphite and the granules also contain lead stearate. Other ingredients of the granules include dialphanyl phthalate, chlorinated hydrocarbon. The granules are compounded with polyvinyl chloride, lead stearate, wax and calcium stearate.
