Abstract

1405603 Measuring gas concentration electrically AUERGESELLSCHAFT GmbH 27 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54635/72 Heading G1N Apparatus for determining the concentration of oxidizable gas in air comprises a Wheatstone bridge containing a catalytic type temperaturesensitive resistor 1, Fig. 1, and a temperature compensating resistor 2. If the test gas is sufficiently concentrated to result in incomplete oxidation, the conductivity of the gas in the test chamber 5 is such as to lower the temperature and resistance of resistor 2 sufficiently to operate a switch 6 whereby the unbalance current S is augumented by a current which holds the apparatus meter at full deflection. The switch 6 may alternatively introduce an additional resistor in the bridge circuit Fig. 1, to obtain full scale deflection of the meter, or switch the meter from the first bridge to a second bridge. In another embodiment, resistor 2 is incorporated in a second bridge network whose output current S is added to the unbalance current S.
