1405110 Continuous production of ureaformaldehyde resins BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 12 Dec 1972 [26 Aug 1972] 57258/72 Addition to 1375502 Heading C3R An aminoplast resin solution is continuously manufactured by condensing an aminoplastforming material consisting predominantly or completely of urea with formaldehyde in the presence of a catalyst mixture of ammonia or amine and acid in homogeneous solution at or near its boiling point in a sequence of at least 3 stirred vessels, the amounts of catalyst and aminoplast-forming material (ARM) being adjusted so that the molar ratio of CH 2 O : AFM is 2À1-3 : 1 and the pH 5À5-7À5 in the first vessel, changing to 1À6-2À6 1 and pH 5-6 in the intermediate vessel(s) and 1À4-2À2 : 1 and pH 5À5-7À5 in the final vessel.
