Abstract

1405076 Otter boards for trawling MUSTAD STOPERI & MEKANISK VERSTED AS 18 Jan 1973 [18 Jan 1972] 2741/73 Heading A1A A symmetrical otter board has two members which are detachable from or movable relative to the board to vary the effective surface area of the board for different trawling depths, the two members being identical and symmetrically arranged on either side of the longitudinal and transverse median axes of the board (as seen in Fig. 1). Openings 12 and 13 are covered or uncovered by slidable members 10 and 11 (or flaps) which are fastened by hand by pins 14 and 15, or are automatically positioned by connection with the fastening points 2 and 3 (the angle made by the other board 1 with the towing rope varies with the depth of trawling). Additionally, detachable swinging flaps 23 and 24 are provided. Ballast blocks are retained in a recess by a sliding door 18.
