Abstract

1404494 Antistatic and softening composition KAO SOAP CO Ltd 10 Sept 1972 [23 Sept 1971] 43549/72 Heading DIP [Also in Division C3] An antistatic softening composition for fabrics comprises 4-10% wt of wherein R 1 and R 2 are each C14-22 alkyl, R 3 and R 4 are each C1-3 alkyl, benzyl or -(C 2 H 4 O) n H, n=1 to 3 and X is Cl, Br or C 2 H 5 SO 4 , 0.1-5% of wherein R 5 is C10-22 alkyl, R 6 is C1-3 alkyl or benzyl, X is Cl, Br or C 2 H 5 SO 4 , m and n are integers greater than unity and m+n= 20-100, and 0.5-15% wt of one or more of C1-3 alcohols, glycols, glycerol, sorbitol and urea. The compound of formula I can be distearyl dimethylammonium chloride dibehenyldimethyl ammonium bromide, distearyldihydroxyethyl ammonium ethosulphate, dipalmitylbenzyl methylammonium chloride or dihydrogenated tallowalkyl dimethylammonium chloride. The compound of formula II may be stearylmethyl dipolyoxyethylene ammonium chloride, behnylbenzyl dipolyoxyethylene ammonium chloride, laurylpropyl dipollyoxyethylene ammonium chloride, stearylethyldipolyoxyethylene ammonium ethosulphate, stearyltrimethyl ammonium chlorid e or distearylmethyl polyoxyethylene ammonium chloride. NaCl, NaBr or Na 2 O 4 may also be present. The composition may be applied to polyester, polyacrylonitrile, acrylic or cotton fibres.
