Abstract

1404477 Panoramic projectors SINGER CO 13 Nov 1972 [22 Nov 1971] 52268/72 Heading G2J A 360 degree image is projected on to a curved screen surrounding the projector by scanning a cylindrically curved transparency by a slit of light extending parallel to and rotating around the axis of curvature of the transparency, optically rotating the light slit about its mid point to form a 360 degree radial pattern of scanning slit-images each with its infinity point at the centre of the pattern and restoring the slit-images to mutual parallelisms for projection. For aircraft flight simulation purposes extra optics is built in to provide a Scheimpflug transformation and an anamorphic distortion to displace the apparent view-point of the observer. The picture may be animatic or still frame.
