1404070 Tachographs KIENZLE APPARATE GmbH 23 May 1973 [28 June 1972] 24657/73 Heading G1J A tachograph to record, as bar diagrams, the work of two vehicle drivers comprises a single recording means e.g. a pencil 5 mounted on a slide 1 to be oscillated over a record carrier 7 by engagement of a pin 21 on the slide with a cam 19 driven by a motor 15, and a rotary switch 24 driven synchronously by the motor 15 via gears 16, 17 and having a wiper arm 23 which on every rotation senses the position of setting means 47, 48 set manually by the drivers ih accordance with the tasks they are performing, e.g. driving, codriving, loading or having a break, the pencil 5 being brought into engagement with one of several recording tracks on the carrier 7 corresponding to the tasks in dependence on the position of the setting means sensed by the wiper arm. The pencil 5 is moved vertically to mark the carrier 7, preferably a disc, on energization of an electromagnetic 14 which is energized when the wiper arm 23 engages one of contacts 27-34 put in circuit by the setting means. The drivers turn knobs 47, 48 to position bridge contacts 37, 38 such that two contacts 27-34, one for each driver, are connected in circuit according to the tasks being performed. The pencil 5 thus marks the carrier when the wiper arm 23 engages one of the two contacts so connected. Each contact 37, 38 has an "off" position in which no record is made for that driver. The circuitry connected to the contacts can include means for ensuring that a record is made only when the vehicle in which the tachograph is mounted reaches a certain minimum speed. The tachograph can be arranged to record in addition vehicle speed, engine revolutions and distance travelled.
