Abstract

1404034 Bowling pin sweeper PATENT VERWERTUNGS - UND FINANZIERUNGSGESELLSCHAFT SERANIA AG 7 Sept 1972 [22 Sept 1971] 41583/72 Heading A6D A clearing mechanism for sweeping bowling pins into a pin pit comprises:-a sweeper guided for movement in stationary rails; motor driven means for causing the sweeper to perform a linear reciprocating movement along the guide rails between two end positions; a motor driven crank independent of said motor driven means for pivoting the sweeper about a substantially horizontal axis from a rest position to an operative position where it is capable of performing said reciprocating motion to sweep pins into a pit. As shown (Fig. 3) the sweeper 15 is supported by a trolley 20 guided by rails 19. Crank 36 is connected via links 25, 23, 22 to the trolley, the pivot being affixed to the machine frame. A further crank 7 is connected by chain 10 to hook 16, which is pivoted to the pin-setting carriage 2 (Fig. 1, not shown). The end of the hook is engagable with a bar 26 on the trolley. Operation. The 'rest' position is shown in Fig. 2. On operation of motor 32 crank 7 rotates anticlockwise and carriage 2 descends. Downward movement of hook 16 lowers the trolley so that wheel 30 enters the cut-away portion of the upturned end of the guide 28, the arm 44 thereby being lowered into the operative position. Continued rotation of crank 7 raises the pin setter 2, but due to the new inclination of the chain 10 the hook does not re-engage the bar 26. The motor 32 stops after one revolution of the crank 7. Motor 46 then performs one clockwise revolution to reciprocate the trolley along the straight part of the guides 19. Finally the motor 32 causes the crank 7 to perform one clockwise revolution during which the pin-setter is lowered, the hook re-engages bar 26, and both pin-setter and sweep are again raised to the rest position.
