Abstract

1403735 Vibratory finishing OXY METAL FINISHING INTERNATIONAL SA 1 Sept 1972 [10 March 1972] 40640/72 Heading B3D [Also in Division B2] In a vibratory finishing machine or the like workpieces 11 are separated from the treatment medium after treatment by reversing the direction of flow of the mixture around a generally annular treatment vessel 1 so that the mixture enters a channel 18 and is directed over a screen 21, treatment medium returning to the vessel 1 through an opening 24, while the workpieces 11 are discharged along a spout 29. Vibration is effected by eccentric weights 7, 8 on a driven shaft, the latter weight being fixed to the shaft, while the former is held in one of two positions 7a, 7b by a catch 10 depending on the direction of rotation. For treatment, Fig. 1, a preferably flexible gate 25 closes the opening 24, the mixture circulating past the channel 18, Fig. 1, while reverse rotation, Fig. 2, leads to discharge, the gate 25 being bent by inflowing separated treatment medium. Screens of various shapes and inclinations may be used, e.g. Figs. 4 and 8, and Figs. 6, 9 and 10 (not shown). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,254,415.
