Abstract

1403254 Centrifugal separator HERAEUSCHRIST GmbH 14 Aug 1972 [27 June 1972] 37824/72 Heading B2P A centrifuge housing 1 having a lid 3 and a floor 4 and within which is mounted a centrifuge rotor 15 coupled to a drive motor is made of hard structured cellular plastics, e.g. polyurethane foam. The rotor-motor assemlbly carries a shroud 13 which is resiliently mounted by means of rubber buffers 12 on a bracket 11 formed integrally with the side walls 2 of the housing. The side walls 2 may be reinforced by means of a perforated metal sleeve 33 or by a metal mesh. Recessed handles 5 are formed in the lower part of the side walls. An instrument and switch panel 7 is located in a cut-out 6 in the frontal side wall. The lid 3 has a handling aperture 8. A chamber 22 defined by a wall part 18 serves for housing an electrical flex. The centrifuge rests on rubber feet 20. Ventilation of the housing is effected by air entering through an opening 32 in the floor 4 and passing through the gap between the shroud 13 and the bracket 11 and through the gap between a baffle plate 23 and the lid 3 and out through the handling aperture 8. The plate 23 defines with the lid 3 an annular space 28 which is subdivided into noise-suppressing chambers by ribs 29 formed integrally with the lid or the plate.
