Abstract
1403091 Sludge removal from separation tanks PATERSON CANDY INTERNATIONAL Ltd 3 Sept 1973 [26 Sept 1972] 44449/72 Heading C1C A solid-liquid separation tank containing a sludge hopper with its inlet level coinciding with the intended surface level of a fluidized blanket in the tank and supported by an arrangement which responds when the combined weight of the hopper and its contents exceeds a first predetermined value by initiating discharge of the hopper contents via an outlet until the hopper weight is reduced to a second predetermined value, is described. Theapparatus described with reference to the drawing shows the hopper 36 having a flexible hose 38 for discharge of contents by valve 41. As the weight of the hopper increases the lever 43 operates switch 49 and valve 41 is opened. When the weight decreases to a predetermined level the switch is disengaged. The invention is further described with reference to drawings (not shown).
