Abstract

1401068 Buckles DYNASAFE EQUIPMENT Ltd 10 Dec 1973 [9 Dec 1972 22 May 1973] 56941/72 and 24325/73 Heading E2A A seat safety belt harness buckle comprises complimentary coupling parts of which one part 17 includes a planar webbing attachment plate 21 having a transverse slot 22 for the passage therethrough, between opposite faces of the plate, of a flexible strap portion 10 of the harness, the plate being provided with a control member 24 forming a guideway 30 which confronts the upper portion 21a of the plate and which is adapted to constrain the strap portion above the slot, when the slot is horizontally orientated, to lie in substantially parallel relationship with the plate portion 21a and to deflect angularly through the slot. The control member also provides adjacent the lower edge of the slot and outwardly-presented from the opposite face of the plate a friction control edge surface or lip 28 which engages and bears against the strap portion when the latter is caused to adopt a cranked or ogee double bend configuration in passage through the slot as shown in Fig. 1. The part 17 may be T-shaped and of metal and the member 24 of moulded plastics material. In modifications, the member 24a, Fig. 10, has in-turned peripheral flange portions which grip side edge portions of the plate 21, or the member may be moulded directly on to the part 17.
