Abstract

1400980 Catalytic convertor casing ARVIN INDUSTRIES Inc 25 April 1973 [9 Nov 1972] 19664/73 Heading B1F Catalytic convertor casing for housing a refractory element 18 comprises a tubular central casing 10 having one end turned inwardly to define a flange 16 forming a seat for the element, a collar 20 at the opposite end of the casing which projects radially inwardly to form a seat 23 for the element, an inlet member 12 connected to the opposite end, an outlet member 14 connected to the one end, and annular resilient means 24 extending around the inner periphery of the central casing to form a cushion for the element in use. The resilient means 24 comprises a wire mesh welded in position. The collar 20 can be tilted relative to the casing centre line, to accommodate lack of parallelism between the end faces of the element, before being fixed in position.
