Abstract

1400944 Cross wedge rolling tool; making rollers VYZKUMNY USTAV TVARECICH STROJU A TECHNOLOGIE TVARENI 12 July 1974 2366/73 Headings B3M and B3A A cross wedge rolling tool is formed by a number of separate plates 5 secured to the flat faces of a prismatic roll body 1, the plates together defining a rolling surface. Each plate has tapered sides 7 which abut adjacent plates, and is secured to a respective face of the body by screws which co-operate with blocks located in a dovetail groove in the face. The plates may initially be divided from a strip with tapered edges and flat upper and lower surfaces. The plates are secured to a support and machined to produce the profiled rolling surface. After dismantling and heat treating the plates they are secured to the roll body.
