Abstract

1400918 Electro-chemically roughening and anodizing aluminium OCE-VAN DER GRINTEN NV 12 Oct 1973 [13 Oct 1972] 47854/73 Heading C7B [Also in Division G2] Aluminium plates or bands are electro-chemically, roughened and thereafter anodized in the preparation of lithographic printing plates. The roughening is with A.C. at 7-12 volts for 5-15 mins in a solution of HCl of strength 0.4-0.6 wt per cent at a temperature of 15-40‹C and a current density of 3-5 amps/sq. dm. The anodizing is with A.C. at 7-12 volts for 5-15 mins in a solution of H 2 SO 4 of strength 18-22 wt per cent at a temperature of 15-30‹C. Specified light-sensitive coatings for prepared Al are of polyvinyl cinnamate sensitized e.g. with 7-diethylamino-4 methyl coumarin, 2, 5-bis (4-diethylaminophenyl) -1,3,4-oxadiazole or the corresponding thiadiazole.
