Abstract
1400834 Junction-pieces; tubes NITROKEMIA IPARTELEPEK 22 May 1972 23895/72 Headings F2G and F2P [Also in Division B5] A structural element comprises spaced apart polyester-impregnated glass fibre panels between which there is a prestressed insert of a metal wire coil or a braid of coiled metal wire, adjacent surface of the coil or braid and the panels being rigidly bonded by polyester resin. As shown a braid 1 is bonded to glass cloths 2 and glass mats 3 by the impregnant polyester 4, and is formed to enable fluid-flow channel-forming members to be inserted into the space between the panels. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), a plurality of coils are disposed side-by-side between the panels and a layer of glass cloth impregnated with polyester partially surrounds and is bonded to each coil by being passed over one coil and under the adjacent coils. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the two panels of Fig. 1 are replaced by a tubular glass fibre-polyester layer, which is rigidly bonded to and embeds a prestressed reinforcing tubular coil of metal wire.
