Abstract

1400683 Winding webs WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER 19 Jan 1973 [19 Jan 1972] 2932/73 Heading B8R A web winding apparatus comprises at least two adhesive coated rotary winding sleeves 9, 10, Fig. 1, displaceable alternately between a winding station I and an unloading station II and a pair of pivotable arms 21, 21 carrying a web guide roller 27 disposed upstream of a web pressure roller 20 for pressing the web against the respective sleeves 9, 10 to attach the web to and wind it on to the sleeves and a knife blade 37 to sever the web 1 from the wound sleeve 9, 10 when it is displaced from the winding station I to the unloading station II. The arms 21, 21<SP>1</SP> are mounted on pivots 22 on opposite sides 8, 8<SP>1</SP> of the apparatus for displacement relative to the web 1 wound at the station I by pneumatic cylinders 26, 26<SP>1</SP> to a position indicated in phantom lines, whereby the roller 20 exerts a uniform pressure on the wound roll 19. The knife blade 37, Fig. 3, extending across the width of the wound web 1, is attached to the stub shafts (32, Fig. 4) carrying the roller 20 and actuated through an associated pinion 35 and gear segment 41 by a pneumatic piston/cylinder assembly 43, 44 when a switch (not shown) is operated following displacement of the web roll 19 from the station I to the station II. The sleeves 9, 10 are mounted between a pair of spaced discs 6, 6<SP>1</SP> oscillated by a motor 17.
