1400300 Exchange column fabrics JULIUS MONTZ GmbH 22 Nov 1972 [24 Nov 1971] 54090/72 Heading D1K A vertical downflow wall for an exchange column comprises a woven fabric wherein the horizontal yarns (K 1 to K 5 when fabric is erected) are arranged in spaced groups G 1 , G 2 the yarns of eadh group G 1 , G 2 lying close together, and the spacing between adjacent groups, or a group and an intermediate yarn K 1 , being at least the diameter of the yarn bordering a group. In Figure 1 the groups consist of four yarns K 1 to K 5 in a 5:1 broken satin weave, the groups being separated by a 5:1 floating yarn K 1 . In Figure 3 (not shown) there are two such separating yarns. In. Figure 2 (not shown) the groups comprise five yarns with no separating yarns. In Figure 4 (not shown) the groups five yarns and the separating yarns and weft are woven in pairs.
