Abstract

1399779 Electric relays; electromagnets SIEMENS AG 14 March 1973 [30 March 1972 27 June 1972] 12376/73 Headings H1N and H1P A circuit arrangement for an electromagnetic relay having a plurality function windings which are in the form of simultaneously parallel wound wires has two of the windings connected in such a way that when the relay is deenergized the corresponding ends of the two windings are connected to each other, to limit sparking at the deenergizing contacts, only indirectly through interturn capacitance. Fig. 1, shows a core K with three parallel wound windings W 1, W2, W3 with the interwinding capacity shown diagramatically at the start ends Al, A2, A3 as C A1-2 , C A2-3 , C A3-1 and similarly at the other ends E1, E2, E3. There may be connected as in Fig. 2, with W3 start end A3 connected to finish ends E1, E2 or W1 and W2 so that the interturn capacities provide discharge paths as shown on opening contacts a, b, c. With only two windings series connected with one as a holding winding change-over contact set (X) (Fig. 3, not shown), is provided but if parallel connected a single series contact (X) (Fig. 4, not shown) is necessary. Fig. 5, shows alternate oppositely acting windings W1, W2 with the interwinding capacitances effectively in parallel to the individual windings. The medium between the turns should have a dielectric constant in excess of 5 preferably between 30 and 100.
