Abstract

1399052 Coating apparatus HENRY SIMON LTD 21 Feb 1974 [3 March 1973] 10458/73 Heading B2L Apparatus for applying a band of adhesive to a glue flap of box blanks, comprises a rotary applicator wheel 10 with peripheral grooves 11 abutted by a stationary shoe 12 with a reservoir 13 open to the wheel 10 and having inlet and outlet ducts 14, 15 to maintain a flow of adhesive in the same sense as the rotation of the wheel. The leading side of the shoe presents a decreasing channel 17 and the trailing side is a sliding fit on the wheel and provided with a doctor edge 16 and a chamfer 20 to prevent splashing. The edges of the axial grooves 11 and of the channel 17 are inset from the side faces of the wheel.
