Abstract

1471545 Coating apparatus A-T-O Inc 28 Oct 1974 46465/74 Heading B2L Apparatus for coating labels with adhesive includes an applicator roll and a doctor roll having intermeshing ribs 26, 36 and grooves 28, 38. The doctor roll is adjustable relative to the applicator; adhesive is pumped to the top of the doctor roll. Two sets of rolls may be mounted side-by-side adjacent a label pneumatic support rotor, so that the label is completely coated. Stripper fingers adjacent the grooves ensure that labels do not adhere to the rolls. Excess adhesive runs into a channel 46 below the rolls so that it can be recirculated via a duct 48.
