Abstract

1397420 Display package DICKINSON ROBINSON GROUP Ltd 23 July 1973 [24 July 1972] 34486/72 Heading A4T [Also in Division B8] A display pack comprises a tubular sleeve 10 and a pair of end closures 12, 14 adapted to locate and retain between them an article, e.g. a golf ball 28, to be packaged, at least one of the end closures extending axially into the sleeve 10 and being shaped at its inner end to seat the article so that the said one end closure can provide a plinth for supporting and displaying the article. As shown, the sleeve 10 is cylindrical and is made of transparent acetate, the bottom closure 14 being formed of an end disc 16, a base part 18, and a column 20. The upper closure 12 comprises an end disc 22 and a cap 24. The latter, the part 18, and the column 20 are all hollow and are moulded from thermoplastic material each part 18, 24 being a push fit into the corresponding end of the tube 10 and retained therein by a peelable seal or, an adhesive strip, not shown. The column part 20 rests in a shallow recess 26 in the base part 18, and its upper end, and the opposite surface of the cap 24, are spherically concave to locate the golf ball 28. The top end of the part 18 which lies within the column 20 is also spherically concave to seat another golf ball 30, four additional golf balls 32 being housed in the base part 18. The end closures 12, 74 may be printed or coloured, and shaped, in any desired manner. A particular golf ball, associated e.g. with a memorable performance, may be displayed within the complete pack as shown in Fig. 1, or else the sleeve 10 and cap can be omitted, as shown in Fig.2. Details of performance etc., may be entered on a panel 34 and the score card 36 may be secured to the plinth behind the ball, e.g. by fitting it into the recess 26. The upper end closure may also accommodate articles.
