Abstract

1397099 Selective printing ZELLWEGER Ltd 15 Aug 1972 [16 Aug 1971] 37936/72 Heading B6F An electrostatic printer having electrodes E 1 ... E N for printing digital codes includes provision for relative motion between the electrodes and a record carrier 10 during recording so that adjacent imaged areas meet or overlap. The printer may print a ring code, Fig. 4, a bar code, or a checkerboard-like code (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). The relative motion may be provided by moving the record carrier 10, or as shown by displacing the electrodes E 1 ... E N by means of an eccentric 26A driven by a shaft 13. The electrodes are lowered into contact with the record carrier for imaging by an electromagnet 18.
